Dr. Kathy Curtiss has served as the Artistic Director of Renaissance Now Theatre and Film for the last 11 years. She currently lives, teaches and directs professionally in New York. Renaissance Now develops new work in both film and theatre, sponsoring independent and short film in particular. Kathy directs experimental work, particularly exploring theatrical movement technique in classical theatre, Shakespeare, and visual film. Kathy currently is an instructor for the New York Film Academy teaching film directing and directing actors for the film conservatory program and acting for camera and technique for the Acting BFA. Kathy has taught in a number of BFA programs nationwide, including the University of California, University of Utah, Ball State. She has been director of an acting BFA, head of Voice/Movement program and taught both directing and stage combat extensively. Kathy is a member of SAG, Dramatist’s Guild, and is twice recognized by the Society of American Fight Directors.
